The WAI WASH SDG program officially launched a, Kalaroa Municipality and Satkhira Sadar Upazila. On 10 December the Mayor of Satkhira Municipality hosted a workshop with pat Satkhira Municipalityrticipation from all government departmental heads, NGO leaders, elected public representatives, WAI partners and media people attended this workshop. The Chief Operating Officer of ASA International and Country Coordinator, WAI, Simavi were also present in this kick off meeting. The Mayor of Satkhira Municipality officially launched WAI Program at Satkhira. Similar inception workshop was also held in Kalaroa Municipality on 11 December, the Panel Mayor presided over the meeting. Government Officials from Upazila, NGOs, civil society members and WAI partner participated in this inception session. Upazila Chairman and Nirbahi Officer addressed the meeting as Chief and Special Guest. Director Uttaran, Country Coordinator, Simavi and Program Head of Practical Action explained the importance and implementation plan of WAI and also sought support of all concern to implement this program.

 

In both program the participants provided their valuable opinion and recommendation for proper implementation of WAI WASH SDG program. The WAI partners HP, PAB and Uttaran organized these sessions. WAI partner Hope for the Poorest led the program in Satkhira and Uttaran led the program in Kalaroa Municipality

The WAI partners Practical Action, Uttaran and Hope for the Poorest jointly organized the basic training for the WAI, WASH SDG program staff who will be working for 3 cities. Mr. Dipok Roy with support from HP and Uttaran prepared session plan and schedule for training. Training was held from 11-13 December 2018 in Satkhira Municipality. The objectives of the training were:

  1. To learn about WASH, SDG and WASH SDG Programme
  2. To understand the present WASH situation form baseline report at intervention areas
  3. To get clarity and discuss feedback on WASH SDG and planned activities
  4. To share and understand each other’s implementing activity plans
  5. To identify ways to increase the collaboration between partner

The Country Coordinator and MEL Officer of WAI Simavi also facilitated couple of session. The training was very participatory and basic issue of program implementation were critically discussed. The target and activities for partners and staff were reviewed and distributed. As a whole training was praiseworthy for the staff.
